Healthy Markets’ final season ended in 2014

Get Ready! Healthy Markets has 2 Farmers’ Markets this year!

Well, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen you, but we are back this year with two markets! We have been busy! We have a new market …Healthy Markets  @ West County, brought to you in conjunction with UM BWMC which will be located each Thursday from 4pm – 7pm at the Van Bokkelen Elementary School, 1140 Reece Road, Severn Maryland! Join us for our Grand Opening on June 5, 2014!

And for those of you who like to shop on Saturday, don’t forget our original market, Healthy Markets @ BWMC which will be opening on June 7th, 2014 on the parking lot of the UM BWMC Executive Center located at 300 Hospital Drive, Glen Burnie, Maryland! 9am-1pm. Remember now you can visit Healthy Markets on Thursdays or Saturdays and if you like you have the opportunity to purchase from our artisans and farmers on two days each week!

On Thursdays, our scheduled vendors will be:

• Ain’t Shea Sweet Skincare-Homemade 100% vegan cruelty-free skin care lotion bars.
• Copper Penny Farm-Pork, beef, lamb and eggs from animals that have been humanely raised on pasture.
• Diveley’s Fruit Farm and Vegetables-Fifth generation farmers with a full array of fruits and vegetables.
• Frost Arrow Farm-Certified Organic Farm fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Hope on Soap-Organic and natural bath and body products, to include lotion sticks, natural deodorants, organic soap and solid perfume.
• Let’s Roll Cakes-Homemade breads and cake rolls, using seasonal and organic ingredients whenever possible.
• The Dancing Herbalist – Herbal products to include teas, seasonings, lotions, extracts, and salves.
• Whim Pop-Frozen fruit pops integrating flavors of the world in a healthy, fresh and cool environment.

On Saturdays, our scheduled vendors are:

• Copper Penny Farm– Humanely raised beef, pork, lamb and eggs.
• Diveley’s Fruit Farm & Vegetables-Fifth generation farmer with full array of fruits and vegetables
• Essential Reign Naturals & Organic– Family owned and operated manufacturer of handcrafted soaps, cremes, candles, sponges and cosmetics.
• Fisher’s Famous-Mustards, featuring Crab House Mustard (come find out what it is!)
• Happy Hens’ Barnyard c/o God’s Country Harvest, Inc.-Family owned farm.  Our goal is to produce a healthy and tasty egg and bird by providing a happy atmosphere.
• Hope on Soap-Organic and Natural Bath and Body Products
• Platinum Jewelry By: Crystal B-Hand crafted jewelry for girls and women of any age by Crystal Burrell.
• Let’s Roll Cakes-Homemade breads and cake rolls using seasonal and organic ingredients
• Maryland Insurance Administration-We are a state agency that regulates the insurance industry in Maryland. Our primary function is to educate Maryland consumers about our agency and how we serve them.
• Nature’s Kiss Organics, LLC– We grow organically a variety of vegetables using a mix of hydroponics and aquaculture.
• Sweet Dream Cupcakes by J-Home baked cupcakes (also gluten-free and sugar-free) with 10 flavors to choose from.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Healthy Markets Prepares for its 3rd Season!

We at Healthy Markets Farmers’ Markets are getting ready for our 3rd Season, which starts in the beginning of June!  And this year we are expanding!  In addition to our Saturday morning market at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, which is located at 300 Hospital Drive, Glen Burnie, Maryland, we will have a new market on Thursdays from 4pm-7pm, also sponsored by BWMC in Severn, Maryland. The new market will be located at the Van Bokkelen Elementary School, 1140 Reece Road in Severn.

We are happy to report that your old favorite vendors are returning, and we are also seeking new vendors to compliment our popular market! Veggies are Back! Featuring Produce from Papa John’s Produce/Schillinger Farms!!

Healthy Markets Customers! We are happy to announce that we will have produce available from Papa John’s Produce in Glen Burnie, MD for the rest of the season! We will be in our spot at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center until the end of October on Saturdays from 9am-1pm!  The market is located at 301 Hospital Drive, Glen Burnie, MD.  Remember to visit our other vendors who will bring you fresh baked breads, cakes & cookies; handcrafted jewelry; natural skin care products; natural soaps; farm raised meats; handcrafted wreaths and home decor; jams, jellies, pickles & more!

This week at the market, we will have tomatoes, corn, squash, watermelons, peaches and more!  All fresh, all local, and all picked at the peak of ripeness.   Don’t forget our artisans with handcrafted soaps, jewelry, recycled glass items, baked goods and more! Ingredients

• 1 2-pound acorn or delicata squash—halved, seeded, and sliced 3/4 inch thick
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 8 sprigs fresh thyme
• kosher salt and black pepper
• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan (1 ounce)

Directions

1. Heat oven to 400° F. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss the squash with the oil, thyme, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Sprinkle with the Parmesan.
2. Roast the squash until golden brown and tender, 25 to 30 minutes.

Hi Healthy Markets customers and followers! Spring is on its way and Healthy Markets is getting ready for our second season! We hope all of our vendors from last season will return and we will be re-opening in June 2013! We are also currently recruiting more farmers and craftspeople to provide you with fresh vegetables, baked goods , creative jewelry, and handmade soaps and other items!!

BWMC to host FREE “Touch-A-Truck” Event on Saturday, Oct. 20th! Don’t forget Healthy Markets will be there too!

On Saturday, October 20th, “area residents will have the opportunity to see, touch, interact and learn about a variety of things on wheels including service and emergency vehicles and construction and public safety equipment” at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) in Glen Burnie, MD from 11am-3pm!  Also available will be health screenings and education for the entire family, including free flu vaccines for children (six months of age and older) and adults.

Don’t forget to stop by Healthy Markets Farmers & Artisans Markets  @ BWMC, the weekly Saturday Farmers Market held across the street from the hospital at 300 Hospital Drive!
